PLAYER NOTES

–CB Terrance Mitchell (wrist) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. He was injured in the game with Oakland last Sunday.

–CB T.J. Carrie is in line to replace injured Terrance Mitchell as a starter. Briean-Boddy Calhoun and E.J. Gaines are competing with Carrie.

–CB Jeremiah McKinnon was elevated from the practice squad on Tuesday.

–WR Antonio Callaway (knee) did not practice Wednesday. He was injured in the Oakland game but continued to play.

–FS Damarious Randall (heel) did not practice Wednesday. He was bothered by the same injury last week but played against the Raiders.

–WR Jarvis Landry (knee) did not practice Wednesday. The injury is not expected to prevent him from playing against the Ravens.

–LB James Burgess (knee) did not practice Wednesday. The injury kept him out of the Oakland game.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: RB Nick Chubb. Chubb carried the ball only three times against the Raiders, but he opened some eyes, including those of head coach Hue Jackson, by scoring touchdowns on runs of 63 and 41 yards. Jackson said the Browns have to find ways to get Chubb more carries, but first Chubb has to become more efficient in pass protection. He says he is improving in that area.

GAME PLAN: Duke Johnson Jr. has become the forgotten man in the Browns offense. The fourth-year running back led the Browns with 74 catches last season, but he has only nine through four games. This could be the week offensive coordinator Todd Haley calls Johnson’s numbers with screen passes to slow the Ravens pass rush.
MATCHUPS TO WATCH

–Browns RB Carlos Hyde vs. Ravens MLB C.J. Mosley. The Browns want to get more carries for running back Nick Chubb, but they will still count on Hyde to get the tough yards inside. Mosley closes quickly, so this battle is one that could last four quarters.

–Browns CB T.J. Carrie vs. Ravens QB Joe Flacco. It did not take long for Raiders quarterback Derek Carr to start picking on Carrie once Terrance Mitchell was knocked out of the game with a broken wrist. Flacco will likely do the same thing if he can get wide receiver Willie Snead IV isolated on Carrie.
