–Jarvis Landry, in his fifth season, has 29 receptions this year and 429 in his career. That is the most for any wide receiver in NFL history in five seasons, breaking the record of 428 previously held by Larry Fitzgerald. Landry has a great chance to add to that with 11 games to play in 2018.

“The guy loves football,” head coach Hue Jackson said. “He’s always out there. He’s very competitive. He hasn’t really missed anything. At times when we need big-time plays, he makes plays.”

–The game-winning field goal by Greg Joseph to beat the Ravens in overtime last Sunday looked like a knuckle ball going over the crossbar. Joseph thought it was partially blocked, but Jackson said it wasn’t.

Joseph missed an extra point and a field goal earlier in the game. He has kicked for three games after replacing Zane Gonzalez, who was cut after missing two extra points and two field goals against the Saints.

Joseph was 4-for-4 on field goals and 3-for-3 on extra points before his struggles against the Ravens. His job is safe – for now.

“We will always find ways to improve the football team as we move forward,” Jackson said. “Right now, he’s our kicker until he isn’t.”

–Wide receiver Rashard Higgins is week-to-week after suffering a sprained MCL last Sunday playing the Ravens. It is a serious loss for the Browns, even if it is temporary. The third-year receiver is third on the team with 16 catches.

“He was doing some really good things,” Jackson said. “We’ll miss him until we get him back because he has been very consistent for our football team.”

The Browns worked out free-agent wide receiver Rishard Matthews but did not sign him.

BY THE NUMBERS: 18 – Consecutive AFC North games played by the Browns without winning one until they beat the Ravens, 12-9, in overtime last week.
