Cleveland Browns rookie defensive end Myles Garrett returned to the practice field on Thursday for the first time since sustaining a high-ankle sprain three weeks ago.

Garrett, who was the top overall pick of the 2017 draft, participated in drills for the first time since a teammate inadvertently fell on his ankle during a practice on Sept. 6.

Coach Hue Jackson is taking a cautious approach in regard to the 21-year-old Garrett being available to make his NFL debut for the Browns (0-3) in Sunday’s home game against the Cincinnati Bengals (0-3).

“If he is able to play, we might not play him the whole game,” Jackson said. “So we’ll see how that unfolds if he’s able to go. We’ll find out more as we go through the week.”

Garrett collected 141 tackles (47 for loss), 31 sacks and forced seven fumbles during his three-year career at Texas A&M. The 6-foot-4 1/2, 272-pound Aggies standout was held to 8 1/2 sacks last season while he dealt with a high-ankle sprain.
