Mock Draft (Update): Rams roll dice with QB Wentz

Regardless if it was an overpay or not, the Los Angeles Rams now own the No. 1 pick and will draft a quarterback.

But which one, Carson Wentz or Jared Goff?

Most indications point to Wentz, who would be the first FCS player drafted No. 1 overall since Ed “Too Tall” Jones went from Grambling to the Dallas Cowboys.

The move shakes up much of the first round of the 2016 draft, impacting several teams between the draft slots traded on Thursday with the Tennessee Titans moving down to No. 15.

1. Los Angeles Rams: Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State
By trading up to this pick, the Rams have created a stir at the top of the 2016 NFL Draft. As they make the move to Los Angeles, the franchise needs a fresh face at quarterback.

2. Cleveland Browns: Jared Goff, QB, California
The Browns are drafting a quarterback this April — the only question is whether or not that will happen in the first round. This pick is much more valuable now if the Browns want to trade back, but if they like Goff, Cleveland should stay put and get their quarterback.

3. San Diego Chargers: Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
The Chargers could use a stud on defense, but they need help on the offensive line even more. Tunsil is a plug and play tackle and also the best player in the draft.

4. Dallas Cowboys: Jalen Ramsey, CB, Florida State
The Cowboys will likely go defense with this pick, but do they go with the pass rusher (Bosa), linebacker (Jack) or defensive back (Ramsey)? I’ll guess they address the secondary, adding Ramsey at cornerback and moving last year’s first round pick Byron Jones to safety full-time.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars: Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
The Jaguars were big spenders in free agency, adding Malik Jackson and Tashaun Gipson to the defense. Factor in last year’s first rounder Dante Fowler and add another impact pass rusher like Bosa and the Jaguars have the makings of a defense no offense wants to face.

6. Baltimore Ravens: DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon
Defensive line isn’t the top need on the depth chart, but the Ravens might not be able to pass on a talent like Buckner, who could be Baltimore’s version of Calais Campbell.

7. San Francisco 49ers: Myles Jack, LB, UCLA
If this pick isn’t a quarterback, the 49ers’ focus likely shifts to defense and Jack would be a great addition next to NaVorro Bowman, filling the shadow left by Patrick Willis’ retirement last year.

8. Philadelphia Eagles: Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State
With Demarco Murray now in Tennessee and Ryan Matthews also on the trade block, the Eagles are looking for a new identity at running back. Elliott has the talent to be the featured piece of Doug Pederson’s offense.

9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Vernon Hargreaves, CB, Florida
Tampa needs to address the cornerback position this draft and Hargreaves is a tough-minded, instinctive cover man who is ready to start from day one in the NFL.

10. New York Giants: Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame
With Will Beatty no longer on the roster and last year’s first-round pick Ereck Flowers struggling on the left side, Stanley would make sense as a plug-and-play left tackle from Day One.

11. Chicago Bears: Leonard Floyd, DE/OLB, Georgia
Entering year two of the transition to a 3-4 base scheme, the Bears are still searching for an impact edge rusher. Floyd has plenty of question marks, but his flexibility and pass rush potential for an athlete his size will have him overdrafted, possibly this early.

12. New Orleans Saints: Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville
New Orleans has some solid pieces on the defensive line, but need to continue and add depth. Rankins isn’t only depth, but he has difference-maker potential, also adding versatility to play multiple spots for the Saints’ front.

13. Miami Dolphins: Darron Lee, LB, Ohio State
The Dolphins are looking to add speed on defense, especially at the linebacker level. Lee certainly offers range, and is an ascending player with high upside.

14. Oakland Raiders: William Jackson, CB, Houston
David Amerson showed signs of recharging his career in Oakland last season, but he is in the final year of his deal and Jackson would give the Raiders immediate depth and a long-term starter.

15. Tennessee Titans: Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State
Moving back from No. 1 to No. 15 is a large jump, but it opens the options for Tennessee. The Titans still need to help protect Marcus Mariota and Conklin gives them position flexibility at either tackle or guard.

16. Detroit Lions: Taylor Decker, OT, Ohio State
Detroit has drafted a first round offensive lineman two of the past four years, but right tackle is still a trouble area. Decker is ready for NFL snaps right now.

17. Atlanta Falcons: Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson
There is no such thing as too much pass rush and after drafting a Clemson pass rusher in the first round last year (Vic Beasley), it wouldn’t be a surprise if they added Lawson, who flourished in Beasley’s old spot for the Tigers.

18. Indianapolis Colts: Noah Spence, DE/OLB, Eastern Kentucky
The Colts need to add pass rushers and Spence is arguably the best in this class at getting to the quarterback. A college defensive end, he would be a natural fit standing up off the edge in a 3-4 scheme.

19. Buffalo Bills: A’Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama
With Kyle Williams coming off meniscus surgery and about to turn 33 years old, the Bills need to find his successor. Along with Marcel Dareus, Robinson would give Buffalo an all-Alabama defensive interior.

20. New York Jets: Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis
The Jets have been doing their homework on the “secondary” quarterback prospects in this class, including Lynch. He isn’t ready to start from day one, but several teams believe he could be the best passer from this class 3-5 years from now.

21. Washington Redskins: Reggie Ragland, LB, Alabama
While there are questions about his ability to hold up in coverage, Ragland is an impact run defender who adds a physical presence to the middle of the Redskins defense.

22. Houston Texans: Will Fuller, WR, Notre Dame
With a strong-armed quarterback like Brock Osweiler now leading the offense, the Texans needs to find horses that can help stretch the field. Fuller is at his best on vertical routes with the tracking skills and downfield speed to make plays.

23. Minnesota Vikings: Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss
The Vikings landed Teddy Bridgewater in the late first round two years ago and Christmas arrives in April once again this year for Minnesota. Treadwell is the top wide receiver in this class and gives Bridgewater a powerful possession target on the outside.

24. Cincinnati Bengals: Josh Doctson, WR, TCU
With Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu leaving via free agency, wide receiver is a realistic option for the Bengals with this pick. Doctson has the size, speed and ball-skills that will complement A.J. Green and give Andy Dalton another downfield threat.

25. Pittsburgh Steelers: Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson
All 32 teams need cornerback help, but maybe none more than the Steelers. A smaller version of Josh Norman, Alexander needs to improve his discipline and technique, but his swagger and cover skills translate very well to the NFL.

26. Seattle Seahawks: Jason Spriggs, OT, Indiana
With Russell Okung on his tour around the NFL negotiating on his own behalf, the Seahawks need fresh blood at offensive tackle. Spriggs has core strength issues, but his frame and athleticism will be extremely appealing for teams with needs on the offensive line.

27. Green Bay Packers: Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama
With B.J. Raji taking a hiatus this season, Reed is a plug-and-play nose tackle who offers versatility on the Packers defensive line.

28. Kansas City Chiefs: Eli Apple, CB, Ohio State
With Sean Smith signing with the Raiders, the Chiefs will be open to drafting a cornerback in the early rounds. Apple has the size, length and speed combination that the Chiefs covet at the position.

29. Arizona Cardinals: Keanu Neal, SS, Florida
The Cardinals have some questions in the secondary, including at safety. Neal is a known as a physical thumper, but he also has the required athleticism to develop in pass coverage.

30. Carolina Panthers: Kevin Dodd, DE, Clemson
The Panthers brought Charles Johnson back, but Carolina isn’t done addressing defensive end this offseason. Dodd showed steady improvement this past season, finally receiving his chance to see the field.

31. Denver Broncos: Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State
The Broncos are almost out of options to address their need at quarterback, which might force their hand with this pick. Cook has NFL starting traits, which might be enough for John Elway to pull the trigger here.

The New England Patriots forfeit their first-round pick as part of the 2015 Deflategate ruling.
