Free agency, draft shopping list

As they wade through free agency and prepare to evaluate draft prospects at the Indianapolis Scouting Combine (March 1-6), the Atlanta Falcons must decide which players to keep as they seek to improve upon their 11-5 record from last season.

The Sports Xchange and NFLDraftScout.com evaluated the Falcons’ roster and created a shopping list to use in free agency and to reference during the Combine.

Change came quickly after the Falcons’ stunning collapse in their Super Bowl LI loss to New England. As expected, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan departed to become San Francisco’s head coach, and he was replaced by NFL neophyte Steve Sarkisian.

Head coach Dan Quinn made several other coaching moves, the most notable being the promotion of Marquand Manuel to defensive coordinator, replacing Richard Smith.

The Falcons don’t have many glaring weaknesses, but they will look to continue upgrading their defensive personnel in the offseason.

Free agency, draft shopping list

As they wade through free agency and prepare to evaluate draft prospects at the Indianapolis Scouting Combine (March 1-6), the Carolina Panthers must decide which players to keep as they seek to improve upon their 6-10 record from last season.

The Sports Xchange and NFLDraftScout.com evaluated the Panthers’ roster and created a shopping list to use in free agency and to reference during the Combine.

Getting quarterback Cam Newton right has to be the biggest task for the Panthers in the offseason. Of course, solidifying the line in front of him could be a big part of that. Tackle surely needs an infusion of talent as does running back thanks to Jonathan Stewart’s advancing age.

The Panthers aren’t alone in being a team that needs pass-rush help.

==================

Free agency, draft shopping list

As they wade through free agency and prepare to evaluate draft prospects at the Indianapolis Combine (March 1-6), the New Orleans Saints must decide which players to keep as they seek to improve upon their 7-9 record from last season.

The Sports Xchange and NFLDraftScout.com evaluated the Saints’ roster and created a shopping list to use in free agency and to reference during the Combine.

Head coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees are back, but the Saints’ mediocre finishes the last two seasons show that isn’t enough. Mostly, Payton has to figure out a way to have his offense present a true running threat while continuing to improve a defense that ranked last in the league against the pass.

Cornerbacks and pass rushers would be a start.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
====================

Free agency, draft shopping list

As they wade through free agency and prepare to evaluate draft prospects at the Indianapolis Scouting Combine (March 1-6), the Tampa Bay Buccaneers must decide which players to keep as they seek to improve upon their 9-7 record from last season.

The Sports Xchange and NFLDraftScout.com evaluated the Buccaneers’ roster and created a shopping list to use in free agency and to reference during the Combine.

With Jameis Winston under center, Mike Glennon bided his time, and now he will be a free agent. His departure won’t appreciably affect the Bucs … unless Winston is forced to miss time.

However, the Bucs have other areas on which to focus. The defense began getting comfortable in Mike Smith’s scheme as the 2016 season played out. Now, some key additions should make it better.

Running back and receiver will also be scrutinized, especially with Doug Martin being out for the first three games of the season on a league suspension.
