The Baltimore Ravens traded defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan and a third-round compensatory draft pick (99th overall) to the Philadelphia Eagles for the 74th overall pick in the third round on Tuesday.
Jernigan, 24, spent three seasons with the Ravens after being drafted 48th overall in the second round in 2014. The former Florida State standout has 91 tackles, 13 sacks, three passes defensed, one interception and a fumbled recovery in 43 career games.
Last season, Jernigan had 31 tackles, a career-high five sacks and three passes defensed in 16 games, 15 of which he started.
“Timmy has been a terrific player for us for three seasons,” Ravens general manager and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome said in a statement. “This will allow our young group of defensive linemen an opportunity to compete and play.”
The Ravens finished 8-8 last season and missed the playoffs after finishing second in the AFC North.
Baltimore now has seven picks in this year’s draft, including four of the first 78 selections.
