–Running back Phillip Lindsay is the first undrafted offensive rookie to be named to the Pro Bowl. He said he was emotional when head coach Vance Joseph and running backs coach Curtis Modkins told him the news.
“At one point, I was just trying to make the team. I was hoping to do some (gunner) reps, some kick return and hopefully catch some balls at punt return,” Lindsay said. “When they gave me the news that I was going to the Pro Bowl, it was just a real emotional moment.”
–Cornerback Craig Mager was signed Tuesday and could play against Oakland on Monday night. Mager, drafted by the Chargers in 2015, has been plagued by injuries the past couple of seasons but adds depth to the thin Denver secondary.
“He was actually in the mix to start for the Chargers before having a major hamstring injury,” head coach Vance Joseph said. “We’ll see. It’s just one more good, young corner that we’ve added to the mix.”
–Linebackers Von Miller and Bradley Chubb have combined for the most sacks by a duo in the NFL through the first 14 games. Miller (14.5 sacks) and Chubb (12) are a full sack ahead of the second-place duo.
BY THE NUMBERS: The Broncos signed quarterback Case Keenum with the hopes the free agent could solve their woes at the position. He was coming off a great season in Minnesota where he went from third string to starting in the NFC Championship Game, and his experience and poise were supposed to be an upgrade over Trevor Siemian. A look at the numbers reveal there’s not much of a difference. Through 14 games Keenum has passed for 3,396 yards with 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He has a completion percentage of 62.1 and a passer rating of 82.1. Siemian played 14 games in 2016, his first season as a starter and put up better numbers. He finished with 3,401 yards passing, 18 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions. His completion percentage was a tick lower at 59.1 but his passer rating was 84.6. Siemian had a full season with Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, but overall there is not much difference between the two.
