Detroit Lions cornerback Josh Wilson is out for the season with a right knee injury after being placed on injured reserve.

The Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday that the Lions are finalizing a contract with veteran cornerback Bill Bentley to replace Wilson on the roster.

Wilson is scheduled to get a second opinion later this week.

The Lions also filled one of their coaching vacancies with the hiring of assistant offensive line coach Ryan Silverfield.

Detroit fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and offensive line coaches Jeremiah Washburn and Terry Heffernan last month.

Silverfield comes from Arizona State, where he was in his first season as a senior offensive analyst. He spent one year at Toledo in 2014 as an offensive consultant and six years before that with the Minnesota Vikings. He was an assistant offensive line coach for the Vikings for three seasons after starting out as a quality control coach.
