Center Chris Myers formally announced his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday.

The 10-year veteran played for the Houston Texans from 2008-2014 and before that was with the Denver Broncos.

“Personally, I really appreciate what Chris Myers meant to our coaching staff and team,” head coach Bill O’Brien said Tuesday.

Myers made the decision public from behind the microphone at his new gig as NFL analyst with Sports Radio 610 in Houston.

Ben Jones, a starter at guard alongside Myers, is taking over as Houston’s center this season.
