Houston Texans rookie cornerback Kevin Johnson was undergoing foot surgery Wednesday in Charlotte, N.C.
According to the Houston Chronicle, renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Robert Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist who is the Carolina Panthers’ team doctor, was performing the procedure.
Johnson, 23, played with a stress fracture in his fifth metatarsal for the last month of the season.
Johnson also will undergo surgery to repair a broken left wrist next month. He played through the injury during the Texans’ 30-0 AFC wild-card playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Jan. 9. He left the game after recording three tackles.
A first-round NFL Draft pick out of Wake Forest, Johnson started 10 of 16 games played. He recorded 54 tackles, one interception and nine passes defended.
