–Controversial cornerback Jalen Ramsey was the only Jaguar named to the Pro Bowl team. Last year when they went to the AFC title game, they had six defensive players named to the Pro Bowl.

Ramsey remains a controversial player despite his status as one of the league’s best cornerbacks.

He said after the Redskins loss when asked about head coach Doug Marrone’s coaching security, “I ain’t worried about anybody but myself.”

He later clarified in a tweet, “Why worry about something you have no control over and I don’t care are two different sayings& meanings! Y’all are sad for real. God Bless.”

–Cody Kessler has not provided the spark the Jaguars were hoping for when he was named the starting quarterback the last three games. He has produced one offensive touchdown and four field goals in three games.

But Marrone said he didn’t consider benching Kessler. He moved on from Blake Bortles when he benched him and it would be difficult to go back to him now.

“We are not able to make plays,” Marrone said. “Run game wise just not being consistent enough. I am responsible for that. That falls on me.”

–Kessler was sacked six times by the Redskins but Marrone said on only one of them he should have gotten the ball out sooner. He said Kessler and an offensive lineman shared the blame for a second but on the other four, he said, “We just got beat.”

–Coaches aren’t usually on the hot seat a year after going to the AFC title game, but then coaches don’t usually have a 4-10 record the year after taking a team to the conference title game.

So it is no surprise that Marrone is getting a lot of questions about his job security and Marrone’s answer is generally that he is focused on doing better.

“That is not a question for me,” he said “I’m just trying to keep coaching as hard as I can. I don’t make those decisions.”

He said he hadn’t received any assurances from owner Shad Khan or director of football operations Tom Coughlin and didn’t expect any.

“I’ve never coached where that has happened one way or the other,” he said.

–Dede Westbrook provided the Jaguars only touchdown on a punt return against Washington.

“We’re always trying to find ways to get him the ball, whether it’s punt returns or a jet sweep,” Marrone said.

They even put Leonard Fournette deep on kickoff returns, trying to “generate some offense or field position.”

But Fournette didn’t get a chance to return a kickoff.

BY THE NUMBERS: 0.9 – The Jaguars yards per pass play against the Redskins.
