The Miami Dolphins fired offensive coordinator Bill Lazor on Monday following the 38-20 loss to the New York Jets.

Zac Taylor, the team’s quarterbacks coach, will take over play-calling duties for the remainder of the season. Taylor is in his fourth season with the Dolphins and his third as the team’s quarterbacks coach.

In addition, the Dolphins promoted Phil McGeoghan to wide receivers coach. He has been assistant wide receivers coach since 2012.

The Dolphins have lost four of their last five games to drop to 4-7, scoring 20 or fewer points in all five.

The Dolphins have already fired coach Joe Philbin and defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle this season.

The initial surge felt by the promotion of interim coach Dan Campbell has all but disappeared. Any chance Campbell had of retaining the job on a permanent basis may have disappeared Sunday.

The loss all but ensured the Dolphins will miss the playoffs for the seventh straight season and for the 13th time in the last 14 seasons. Miami missed the playoffs just 15 times total from its inaugural season in 1966 through 2001.

Quarterback Ryan Tannehill has struggled over the last five games. He finished 33-of-58 passing for 351 yards, with three touchdowns and one interception on Sunday. He threw for just 83 yards in the first half.
