–The Dolphins have no players on ESPN’s list of the top 100 in the NFL. Only two other teams also lacked star power in that fashion, the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts. But that was before the Bears traded for top-10 talent Khalil Mack, a game-changing linebacker.

–Dolphins running back Kenyan Drake had a strong finish last year. Over the final five games, he rushed for 444 yards, which led the NFL during that span. “I want to be a player who can be relied upon to make big plays,” Drake said.

–Ted Larsen, who started eight games for the Dolphins at left guard last season, is expected to return to practice this week. If he doesn’t start, Larsen should be a key backup at guard and center this season.

–QB Ryan Tannehill: If Miami is to make the playoffs this year, Tannehill likely will have to have a career year. Back healthy after missing the past 20 games due to a knee injury, Tannehill is 37-40 as a NFL starter, falling short of expectations for a 2012 first-round pick. This could be his last chance with Miami, now or never.

–TE Mike Gesicki: Gesicki, Miami’s second-round pick out of Penn State, looks like a weapon in the red zone. He has good hands and also has the size (6-5, 250) to block out defenders.
