New Orleans Saints rookie defensive end Marcus Davenport is expected to be sidelined for a month with a toe injury, according to a published report Wednesday.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported the news on the 22-year-old Davenport, who was spotted in a walking boot after recording two sacks in Sunday’s 30-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

The Saints traded the 27th and 147th overall picks in the 2018 NFL Draft along with next year’s first-round selection in order to take Davenport with the 14th overall pick.

Davenport has 11 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble this season for the Saints (6-1), who host the Los Angeles Rams (8-0) on Sunday (4:25 p.m. ET).

Alex Okafor could see additional snaps in the absence of the 6-foot-6, 265-pound Davenport. The 27-year-old Okafor, who is 6-4 and 261 pounds, has 13 tackles and one sack this season for New Orleans.

Davenport totaled 186 tackles, 22 sacks, 38 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and eight passes defensed during 43 games at Texas-San Antonio.

He was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 after logging 55 tackles, including 17.5 for loss, 8.5 sacks and eight quarterback hurries.
