New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees said the two words that Saints fans wanted to hear: “I do.”

Brees, who is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, was asked Sunday if expects to stay in New Orleans.

“This one will sting,” he said after a last-play 29-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in an NFC divisional playoff game.

“But when you reflect on the season itself and what we were able to accomplish, the memories that we made, the relationships that were built and just the way this team came together, it really leaves me excited for the future of Saints football, especially when I think about this window over the next few years.”

Brees, who turned 39 Monday, just finished his 12th season with the Saints, completing a career-high 72.0 percent of his passes for 4,334 yards and 23 touchdowns while leading the team to a 11-5 regular-season mark.

With the way Brees’ contract was structured, he is set to count $18 million against the Saints’ salary cap, whether he is on the roster or not.
