The New Orleans Saints agreed to a deal with the veteran outside linebacker Paul Kruger, according to reports Wednesday.

The 30-year-old pass rusher was released Monday by the Cleveland Browns after three seasons.

Kruger, who also drew interest from the Kansas City Chiefs, visited with the Saints on Tuesday.

“He still affects the passer. You see a pressure player. He rushes with power,” Saints coach Sean Payton said of Kruger on Tuesday. “I think you see a high motor and a guy that plays extremely strong.”

The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder Kruger, who received a five-year, $40 million contract with the Browns in 2013, had just 2.5 sacks last season after making 11 sacks in 2014.

Kruger’s best season came in 2012 with the Baltimore Ravens when he made nine sacks in the regular season and 4.5 more in the postseason, including two in Baltimore’s Super Bowl XLVII win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Kruger will play defensive end in New Orleans’ 4-3 scheme. The Saints finished 31st in total defense last season.
