The New York Giants signed former Jets quarterback Geno Smith to a contract on Monday.

New York also signed cornerback and special teams player Valentino Blake to a deal.

Smith visited with the Giants last weekend and the team agreed to terms on a contract Friday, pending him passing a physical. The deal reportedly is for one year and $2 million.

“Geno has a great, positive attitude, and he’s looking forward to learning and competing in our QB room,” general manager Jerry Reese said.

The 26-year-old Smith admitted that he’s ready to learn from Eli Manning and others.

“I want to carry my notepad around and whatever I see Eli doing, whether it’s in the classroom, on the field or off the field, I want to write it down,” Smith said. “Because he’s a guy you can model yourself after. If you learn from a guy like that, we can all do a lot better.”

Smith started one game for the Jets last season but suffered a torn ACL against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7 on Oct. 23. He might not be able to participate in football activities until training camp.

“Right now, it’s doing great,” Smith said of his knee. “We’re being cautious. But I’m at that stage where I’m feeling healthy enough that I can push it. But I have to be smart about it and not do anything that will cause me setbacks.”

Smith joined a quarterback group that includes veteran Josh Johnson, who agreed to a two-year deal with the Giants on Friday.

Johnson was the Giants’ third-string quarterback last season until Manning’s backup, Ryan Nassib, injured an elbow that eventually required surgery. Johnson, who will turn 31 in May, has not thrown an NFL regular-season pass since 2011 when he was a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Smith was a second-round draft pick by the Jets out of West Virginia in 2013. He earned the starting job as a rookie and led the Jets to an 8-8 record.

The Jets went 3-10 in games Smith started in 2014 and he lost the starting job after being punched by teammate I.K. Enemkpali in training camp in 2015.

Smith played in 33 games (30 starts) in his four seasons with the Jets, completing 57.9 percent of his passes for 5,962 yards with 28 touchdowns with 36 interceptions.

Blake recorded 38 tackles and five passes defensed in 16 games with the Tennessee Titans last season. He also made four special teams tackles.

Blake has recorded 148 tackles, three interceptions and a sack in 78 career games with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Pittsburgh Steelers and Titans.
