Life in the fast line, quite literally, is not a problem, New York Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson said.
Richardson, suspended four games for a violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy following a prior arrest for speeding when he was cited for going 140 miles per hour with a loaded handgun in the front seat and a 12-year old in the back seat, said he made one mistake and denies a pattern of self sabotage requires he make major personal-life changes.
“Other than doing a bad mistake on one night? No, not really,” he told The New York Post. “Other than that, that’s the only thing I’d change. I’m pretty quiet off the field, honestly. I keep to myself, stay in my room, really. Play video games. I’m a regular old person, except I happen to be in the NFL.”
Richardson is facing potential additional punishment for the reckless driving violation. The NFL looks into arrests that could be considered code of conduct violations.
“When I get the day of when I can actually return, then I can move forward,” Richardson told The Post. “But until then, it’s going to be a cloud over my head.”
