With the New York Jets set to start training camp Thursday, they finally have their quarterback back in the fold.

Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Jets ended a long offseason stalemate Wednesday when the veteran free agent agreed to terms on a one-year contract, according to multiple media outlets.

Fitzpatrick reportedly will make a base salary of $12 million with a chance to earn another $3 million in incentives.

According to ESPN, the Jets boosted their previous offer from $8 million to $12 million while handing Fitzpatrick a 7 p.m. EDT deadline Wednesday to accept.

ESPN added that the Jets will need to create salary-cap space for the quarterback, as they have just $9.1 million available.

Fitzpatrick, 33, reportedly was seeking a multiyear deal worth $15 million annually, while the Jets had countered with a three-year, $24 million offer that included a guaranteed $15 million.

The offseason standoff followed a year in which Fitzpatrick set a team record with 31 touchdown passes after taking the starting role in preseason. Geno Smith was due to be the starter in 2015 before his jaw was broken when he was punched by a teammate last summer.

With Fitzpatrick back on the roster, the Jets’ backup quarterbacks include Smith, rookie second-round draft pick Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty.

Heading into his 12th NFL season out of Harvard, Fitzpatrick last year started every game in a season for just the third time in his career. He also did so for the Buffalo Bills in 2011 and 2012. The journeyman also has seen action with the St. Louis Rams, Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans.

Last season, Fitzpatrick completed 335 of 562 passes (59.6 percent) for 3,905 yards with 15 interceptions. For his career, he has completed 60.1 percent of his passes for 23,178 yards with 154 touchdown passes and 116 interceptions.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Fitzpatrick’s 105 career starts without a playoff appearance are the second most in the NFL since the 1970 merger, trailing only Archie Manning’s 139.
