Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger expects to be on the practice field Wednesday and denied that he suffered a concussion in Sunday’s loss at Seattle.
While head coach Mike Tomlin said Roethlisberger was dealing with “what is now being called a concussion,” the quarterback said he completed concussion protocol at the team facility Tuesday.
Roethlisberger told 93.7 The Fan he felt like he was looking through water after taking a hit from Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett. Roethlisberger stayed down for a few seconds before getting up and taking another snap but left the game after self-reporting the head injury.
“I have played through many injuries, but the brain is not an injury you want to play with,” Roethlisberger said Tuesday. “When you’re done, you want to be a husband or father. And if I have these brain injuries, it’s not worth it.”
The NFL and NFLPA are jointly investigating the protocol followed by medical spotters who did not notify the sideline of Roethlisberger’s potential head injury.
When Roethlisberger reported his injury to team trainers on the sideline, he was taken to the locker room and replaced by Landry Jones.
