The Chargers are still in San Diego, but the team might have taken another step toward a move to Los Angeles.

The Chargers filed to trademark the names Los Angeles Chargers and LA Chargers, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.

The team filed paperwork two days after NFL owners approved a relocation for the Chargers to Los Angeles in a 30-2 vote. The club has one year to exercise an option to move.

Chargers president of business operations A.G. Spanos signed the application and NFL senior vice president Anastasia Danias was listed as the attorney of record.

The Chargers are considering the option to share a new stadium in the Los Angeles area being built by Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke.
