The Seattle Seahawks released veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall, the team announced Tuesday.
The 34-year-old Marshall “absolutely” wants to keep playing, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Finding a team interested in signing him will be the challenge.
Marshall signed a one-year, $1.1 million deal with Seattle in May when the Seahawks needed depth at the wide receiver spot. The Seahawks had lost Paul Richardson in free agency, and Doug Baldwin had injury issues.
Marshall started two games early this season, and he had nine receptions for 120 yards through his first three games. But he had only two receptions for 16 yards since then, as his playing time has dwindled. He played just two offensive snaps against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
He has 11 catches for 136 yards for the season.
Marshall has been named to the Pro Bowl six times, the most recent being the 2015 season, when he had 109 receptions for 1,502 yards and a league-best 14 touchdowns for the New York Jets.
That was the eighth time Marshall had more than 1,000 receiving yards in a season.
Last year, Marshall played just five games, all as a starter, for the New York Giants and had 18 catches for 154 yards and no touchdowns.
