–The Redskins have a number of Houston natives on the roster as they prepare to play the Texans. Left tackle Trent Williams won’t play, but running back Adrian Peterson will. He and Williams train in the offseason with several Texans players.

“It’s always fun going against guys that I know,” Peterson said. “My kids go to school with some of the players for the Texans and my wife is good friends with the Honey Badger and his fiancee, really good friends. It’s a little extra incentive there. But ultimately getting to 7-3 is my main goal.”

–Both cornerback Josh Norman and safety D.J. Swearinger said after the win over Tampa Bay on Sunday that they often prefer to play on the road because the fan atmosphere at FedExField isn’t very good. It is true that opposing teams, especially NFC East foes Dallas, Philadelphia and the New York Giants, have thousands of their own fans at Redskins home games. The players were begging for a better showing from the fans this weekend against the Texans, who figure to bring fewer fans.

“It’s going to be a big game at home,” linebacker Mason Foster said. “Get the fans out there going crazy and we’ll feed off that and do our best … They definitely got them fired up, At the end of the day, the fans play a big part in the way defenses can play, in the way the atmosphere is out there.”

BY THE NUMBERS: 25 – Punts inside the 20-yard line by Redskins punter Tress Way. That ranks third in the NFL.
