–Head coach Jay Gruden said linebacker Mason Foster would not be disciplined after a direct message sent on social media and ultimately made public used expletives to refer to both the Washington fanbase and organization.

–The Redskins turned to Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in a midseason trade to help solidify their strong safety position. It hasn’t worked out as planned with Clinton-Dix struggling to adjust to his new team and making a few high-profile mistakes. But that doesn’t mean Montae Nicholson, the starter out of training camp and a fourth-round draft pick in 2017, is going to regain his spot over the final three games.

“I like Ha Ha as a player, I like him as a person, I like the way he works. I think he’s going to get better and better within the defense and just understanding the depths and techniques that we’re playing with he’s going to get better,” Gruden said. “As far as Monte is concerned, we have not lost faith in Monte at all. I mentioned it the other day I think there might be a place where he might have a package or two where he can get back on the field.”

–Durability is always an issue for Redskins tight end Jordan Reed. He’d played in every game this season until hurting his ankle and toe on the first play against the Giants in Sunday’s 40-16 loss. Reed has appeared in 13 games and was one shy of matching his career high (14) during the 2015 season. But he did not practice on Wednesday and Gruden said this week there’s a chance Reed might not play again this year. His numbers were disappointing with 54 catches for 558 yards and two touchdowns.

BY THE NUMBERS: 2 – Sacks needed for outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan (80.5) to pass Charles Mann (82) for second on the franchise all-time sacks list.
