–Dropped passes have plagued the Redskins in recent games and new quarterback Josh Johnson needs all the help he can get. Jamison Crowder rebounded from a tough game against the New York Giants when he caught just two of his seven targets, though one was for a touchdown. Crowder had four catches for 44 yards against the Jaguars. Meanwhile, tight end Vernon Davis had a bad drop against Jacksonville on what could have been a big play for the Redskins in the first half.

“That one was such a bang-bang (play). You expect that one to be down the sidelines further, but (quarterback) Josh [Johnson] had to get it up quicker because he had somebody in his face right away and when he saw it, he saw it late,” Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said. “It hit him in the hands; the guy made a good play. Yeah, we expect Vernon to make those plays.”

–Once 6-3 and in first place in the NFC East, the Redskins are just hanging on in the NFC playoff race. At 7-7 and with games left against Tennessee and the Philadelphia Eagles, they still have a chance despite the injuries and chaos that have enveloped the 2018 season.

Washington has the same record as defending champion Philadelphia, but lost to the Eagles earlier this month. It is a half-game behind the 7-6-1 Minnesota Vikings and former quarterback Kirk Cousins for the final playoff spot. Minnesota has a game at Detroit (5-9) on Sunday. The Eagles host AFC South leader Houston (10-4).

BY THE NUMBERS: 7 – Wins for the Redskins when they score first this season. They have lost all seven games when their opponent scores first.
