–With safety D.J. Swearinger gone, the Redskins will start Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Deshazor Everett on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Possible reserves include Jeremy Reaves, converted cornerback Harlan Miller and Alex Carter, who was promoted from the practice squad after only one week.

–Redskins quarterback Josh Johnson doesn’t need a potential playoff spot to motivate him this week against the Eagles. Johnson has played on 12 teams during his career and the 32-year-old knows opportunities are limited for players like him. He wouldn’t be here if not for the injuries to Alex Smith and Colt McCoy. That’s why Johnson spent all day Christmas studying film at Redskins Park.

“I was here. I was here all day,” Johnson said. “I’ve been with my family all year so we’re good. They’re good.”

–Washington hasn’t caught a break at guard in weeks. Starting left guard Shawn Lauvao and starting right guard Brandon Scherff were placed on injured reserve in October. Austin Howard and Jonathan Cooper went on IR this month. Tyler Catalina and Arie Kouandjio went on IR before the season. And converted swing tackle Ty Nsekhe missed the Tennessee game with a knee injury and did not practice on Wednesday. Zac Kerin, signed just last week to play left guard in Nsekhe’s place, was injured in the first half and was limited at Wednesday’s practice. The hope is veteran Tony Bergstrom can play right guard for the first time since Dec. 3.

BY THE NUMBERS: 2 – Seasons with more than 1,000 rushing yards after age 30 for Redskins running back Adrian Peterson. He is only the 13th NFL player to do that.
