–Left guard Shawn Lauvao did not practice Wednesday and could miss time with an injured calf, though he is not expected to go on injured reserve, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Lauvao was hurt in Sunday’s 21-9 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The plan would be to move center Chase Roullier to left guard if Lauvao can’t play against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Tony Bergstrom would move into the lineup at center. That switch actually happened for four snaps in the loss to Indianapolis Sunday when Pro Bowl right guard Brandon Scherff left the field for a series with a right knee injury.

–Redskins running backs Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson combined for 292 yards of total offense in a Week 1 victory against the Arizona Cardinals. That dropped to 37 yards against the Colts in a Week 2 loss. That’s an extreme decline Washington hopes is an anomaly.

“First off, we have to put that game behind us,” Peterson said. “We know the things we have to correct and that’s what we’re doing this week. We have a game plan. We’re excited about how it looks.”

–Wide receiver Paul Richardson Jr. entered the Indianapolis game with a shoulder injury and left with his knee hurting. That’s a concern given that Richardson’s speed was a missing component for the Redskins last season and they targeted him in free agency after a nice year with the Seattle Seahawks.

Richardson insisted that his knee felt fine, but he did not participate in practice on Wednesday. More concerning is that he also needed an MRI exam on his injured shoulder Monday, and the team is worried the injury could be one that lingers well into the season. That injury is part of the reason why Michael Floyd and Breshad Perriman were brought in after workouts this week.

“It’s part of the game,” Richardson said. “Have to figure out how to manage it, play with it and be available.”

BY THE NUMBERS: 6 – Sacks of quarterback Alex Smith allowed by the Redskins’ offensive line through two games. That number is trending upward again after it spiked to 43 last season from just 49 combined sacks allowed in 2015 and 2016.
