The 6-foot-2, 302-pound McClain was originally selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He has appeared in 62 career regular-season games (27 starts) for the Panthers, New England Patriots, Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys.
