UCLA will be without an all-conference defender when it plays Virginia in its season opener on Saturday because of off-the-field transgressions.

UCLA head coach Jim Mora said Tuesday that All-Pac-12 cornerback Ishmael Adams was suspended indefinitely from the team.

The suspension come a day after reports surfaced that Adams had been arrested for an alleged robbery.

Adams allegedly took a cellphone from an Uber driver early Sunday morning, the UCLA police department told ESPN.com. He was arrested and his bail was set at $100,000.

It’s unclear how long Adams will sidelined. Mora said Adams will remain suspended until more facts are gathered.

After facing Virginia, the 13th-ranked Bruins play UNLV before a tough four-game stretch against BYU, No. 22 Arizona, No. 15 Arizona State and No. 21 Stanford.

Not only was Adams a first-team all-conference defensive back last season, but he was the Bruins’ top punt and kick returner in 2014. He averaged 9.4 yards per punt return last year, which ranked fourth in the conference.
