Atlanta Braves All-Star right-hander Julio Teheran was activated from the disabled list and will start Friday’s game against the Washington Nationals.
Teheran has been sidelined since July 31 due to a lat strain.
The Braves placed left-hander Eric O’Flaherty (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list in a corresponding move.
Teheran is just 3-9 but has a solid 2.81 ERA that is tied for ninth-best in the NL with Tanner Roark, who will start Friday’s game for Washington.
The Braves are surely glad to see Teheran return to the mound. The last time an Atlanta pitcher worked past six innings was when Teheran pitched seven innings in a 1-0 victory over Colorado on July 17.
The native of Colombia worked five innings in a rehab outing for Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.
“I didn’t feel anything and that’s a good thing,” Teheran said. “I’m glad we took care of it before it got worse.”
Teheran is 0-5 in 12 home starts despite a 3.07 ERA.
