The University of South Florida, which had to cancel last week’s American Athletic Conference opener at Connecticut because of concerns over Hurricane Irma, has made multiple changes to its schedule for the rest of the season.
The 22nd-ranked Bulls, who play at home Friday night against Illinois, will be able to play a full conference slate.
The AAC has reworked numerous games to accommodate South Florida and other league schools.
–The Bulls-Huskies game will be played Nov. 4 at Connecticut.
–USF’s home game against Houston, which had been scheduled for Nov. 4, will be played Oct. 28 in Tampa, Fla. The Bulls’ scheduled home game versus Cincinnati on that date will be played Oct. 14 at Raymond James Stadium.
–That forced the cancellation of USF’s game against UMass on Oct. 14. The schools plan to move that game to either the 2022 or 2023 season.
“USF is committed to being a great partner in the American Athletic Conference,” Bulls athletic director Mark Harlan said in a release.
“We are determined to do what is necessary to play a full conference schedule to determine a true conference champion. These changes are not easy for anyone, and I am proud of how our fellow conference schools have worked together to make schedule adjustments under the direction of Commissioner Mike Aresco.
“I am grateful for the cooperation of our opponents whose games had to be moved in this process, particularly UMass and Director of Athletics Ryan Bamford, and also for the understanding of our fans.”
