Cowboys RG Martin (knee) ruled out vs. Colts

Dallas Cowboys right guard Zack Martin has been ruled inactive for Sunday’s game against the host Indianapolis Colts.

Martin is not accustomed to sitting out a contest, as the four-time Pro Bowl selection has not missed a game at any level — including high school (Bishop Chatard High School) and college (Notre Dame).

Rookie Connor Williams will be inserted into the lineup in place of the 28-year-old Indianapolis native, who is dealing with a sprained MCL in his left knee.

Martin re-injured his MCL in his knee during last week’s 29-23 overtime win over the Philadelphia Eagles. He missed the final 33 snaps of that contest for the Cowboys (8-5), who have won five in a row and would wrap up the NFC East title with a victory against the Colts (7-6).

Doctors determined that surgery was not needed for Martin, with rest serving as the best medicine.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, Martin has started 77 straight contests since being selected by Dallas with the 16th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys also listed wide receiver Tavon Austin, defensive lineman David Irving, tight end Geoff Swaim, quarterback Mike White, linebacker Chris Covington and defensive end Taco Charlton as inactive for Sunday’s contest.
