Temple standout junior center Matt Hennessy declared for the NFL draft on Friday, not long after the Owls lost to North Carolina in the Military Bowl.

Hennessy is a finalist for the Rimington Trophy, awarded to the nation’s top center. He was named a second-team All-American by USA Today.

“Following a great deal of discussion with my family, teammates and coaches, I have decided to declare for the 2020 NFL Draft,” Hennessy said in his announcement. “I am extremely grateful to Temple University for giving me the opportunity to further my education and growth as a student-athlete.”

The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Hennessy was a three-year starter for the Owls.

Hennessy is a probable third-day pick in the draft.
