The Tennessee Titans activated wide receivers Adam Humphries and Cam Batson off the reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday, dropping the numbers of players on their COVID list to five.
Since Sept. 24 – three days before their 31-30 road win over the Minnesota Vikings — the Titans have seen 24 players and staff members test positive for COVID-19.
The affected included both of their top two receivers, Humphries and Corey Davis, who remains in quarantine. Two Titans games were forced to be postponed because of the team outbreak.
Despite missing several players and enduring an extended layoff — the 15 days between games marked the NFL’s longest in-season wait since 2001 — the undefeated Titans moved to 4-0 by crushing the previously unbeaten Buffalo Bills on Tuesday 42-16.
Humphries, 27, caught 15 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown in the season’s first three weeks before testing positive for coronavirus. He rejoined the active roster Wednesday, 12 days after being placed on the Titans’ reserve/COVID list.
Baston, 24, reverted back to the team’s practice squad after also initially being placed on the reserve/COVID list on Oct. 2. He has played in two games this season, catching a pair of passes for 26 yards.
Five players remain on Tennessee’s reserve/COVID list, including four from the active roster (Davis, tight end MyCole Pruitt, fullback Khari Blasingame and defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons) and one from the practice squad (cornerback Breon Borders).
The Titans also made a trade Wednesday, dealing linebacker Kamalei Correa — who also has spent time on the COVID list — and a seventh-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 2021 sixth-round pick.
