North Carolina State’s leading tackler faces multiple charges related to alcohol and fleeing police.

Redshirt freshman linebacker Payton Wilson, 19, was arrested Saturday morning in Raleigh, N.C. He was released from Wake County jail on $3,375 bail, according to court documents obtained by the Raleigh News & Observer.

He was charged with multiple misdemeanors, including consuming alcohol underage, possession of a fraudulent ID, injury to personal property, impeding traffic and resisting an officer.

According to arrest warrants, Wilson ran from an officer into traffic and was struck by a car. He then continued to flee before hiding under a parked car.

“We are aware of the situation, and we will gather more information,” NC State assistant athletic director Annabelle Myers told the newspaper. Myers said she didn’t believe Wilson was injured in the incident.

Wilson registered 69 tackles, including five for loss, and one interception in 11 games with the Wolfpack (4-8).
