A Temple player tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday morning, delaying the team’s kickoff against East Carolina, according to reports.

The teams decided to continue with the game despite the positive test, which was reported shortly before the scheduled kickoff. The start time was pushed back about 50 minutes, and an unknown number of Temple players were rendered unavailable for the game.

Stadium reported that the situation started when a Temple player’s girlfriend tested positive for the coronavirus. The player then returned to campus for antigen testing, which came back positive.

Both Temple (1-5) and East Carolina (1-6) are seeking their second victory of the season.
