Steve Mitchell-US PRESSWIRE

COACH: Carl Pelini — At FAU and overall, 1st year

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Brian Wright

DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Pete Rekstis

LAST LEAGUE TITLE: 2007

LAST BOWL: 2008, Motor City

RETURNING STARTERS: 15; 7 offense, 7 defense, kicker

PLAYERS TO WATCH: QB Melvin German, RB Jonathan Wallace, WR DeAndre Richardson, TE Nexon Dorvilus, LB Randell Johnson, LB David Hinds, CB Keith Reaser

PRIMARY STRENGTHS: The up-tempo offense the Owls are going to use could create some mismatches if opposing defenses get caught with the wrong personnel on the field. At the very least, the spread gives the offense more of a chance for success than last year’s pro set.

POTENTIAL PROBLEMS: The new schemes on both sides of the ball figure to take some getting used to and conditioning will have to improve on offense. Quarterback is unsettled going into the fall and depth at wide receiver is a concern in the new spread attack.
