Houston quarterback D’Eriq King changed his mind and entered the NCAA transfer portal.

The senior graduated last month and will be eligible to play during the 2020 season as a grad transfer.

“I’ve entered the portal I think it’s best for me and my family!” King posted on Twitter.

King accounted for 50 touchdowns during the 2018 season (36 passing, 14 rushing). He played four games in 2019 before announcing in September that he would redshirt the rest of the season and return to the Cougars in 2020.

“I came here to play football for the University of Houston and that is not changing,” King said at the time. “… I’m looking forward to being a part of the success of this program going forward.”

During the Cougars’ 1-3 start, King completed 58 of 110 passes (52.7 percent) for 663 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions. He rushed 55 times for 312 yards and six scores.

From 2018-19, he compiled a streak of 15 consecutive games with passing and rushing touchdowns to break the FBS record set by Florida’s Tim Tebow.
