*Tony Pollard – Noteworthy
On Tony Pollard’s Instagram story feed this week, the former Memphis football standout shared an interview with rapper Jay-Z talking about self-confidence. As Jay-Z discussed how people doubted him early in his career, Pollard inserted some comments above one of the segments. “Don’t project your fears on me” It’s a message Pollard knows well. He knew people were surprised when he declared for the NFL Draft in January and there are questions on how he projects as a running back with only 139 career carries at Memphis. “I know that when I perform in my Pro Day and the combine, I know my stock can only rise from there,” said Pollard, who gave up his final season of eligibility.

Pollard rushed for a game-high 60 yards at the Senior Bowl and also scored a late touchdown for the North. He wasn’t surprised at how well he played but was glad he got to do after receiving a late invitation. “I just needed the opportunity,” said Pollard. “It was fun competing with the best players in the country and showing that I belonged, no matter what conference you come from.” Pollard is working out in Orlando at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports complex with Tom Shaw, who has trained athletes such as Tom Brady, Jameis Winston and Derrick Henry. – The Memphis Commercial Appeal
