Central Florida hired Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost as head coach.
Frost takes over a program reeling following the resignation of George O’Leary. UCF was 0-12 in 2015.
“Scott is a winner and innovator who has directed one of college football’s most exciting offenses at the University of Oregon,” UCF director of athletics Danny White in a statement. “His attitude and experience are exactly what we need to ensure the Knights compete, and win, at the highest levels.”
Frost was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Oregon since 2013 and tutored 2014 first-round pick Marcus Mariota, who won the Heisman Trophy before the Tennessee Titans drafted him second overall.
Frost previously served as wide receivers coach (2009-12) and was an assistant coach at Northern Iowa for two seasons.
After leaving Stanford, Frost led the Nebraska Cornhuskers to the national title in 1997 and was a third-round pick in the NFL draft.
