Former Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois will play this season at Hampton as a graduate transfer.

“I am very happy that Deondre Francois is joining our program,” coach Robert Prunty said in a news release . “He is a cerebral football player with unbelievable athletic ability. More importantly, he is an outstanding young man who graduated Florida State in 3.5 years. We are ecstatic to have Deondre Francois in our program.”

Francois has been without a football team since February, when the Seminoles dismissed him after he was alleged to have made threats to his girlfriend in a video posted to Instagram. That incident came one month after Francois was cleared of an alleged battery of his girlfriend, who was nine weeks’ pregnant.

He was linked to both Florida Atlantic and Alabama State before enrolling at Hampton.

The 22-year-old threw for 6,291 yards and 36 touchdowns in three seasons at Florida State. As a redshirt freshman in 2016, he threw for 3,350 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Hampton is a member of the Big South Conference.
