Florida State junior outside linebacker Joshua Kaindoh has been ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining an ankle injury on Saturday against Virginia, coach Willie Taggart announced Monday.

A co-starter at the edge position, Kaindoh totaled nine tackles in the Seminoles’ first three games, with a sack and 2 1/2 tackles for loss. Kaindoh has played 28 games (two starts) at FSU, totaling 45 tackles, including 13 1/2 for loss and eight sacks.

The 6-foot-7, 261-pound Kaindoh suffered the injury when he was hit by his own player while trying to make a tackle. After he was carted off the field, he returned to the sideline with crutches and his right ankle taped.

A native of Baltimore, the former five-star recruit who played at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., will be able to redshirt this season.
