Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis has been granted immediate eligibility, the school announced Monday.

“We are excited for Jordan and thankful to the people who examined his situation and reason for his transfer,” Seminoles coach Willie Taggart said. “This has been a long but deliberate process, and we are happy to achieve closure on Jordan’s situation.”

Travis transferred to Tallahassee from Louisville, where he played in three games as a true freshman in 2018. He completed 4 of 14 passes for 71 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

The native of West Palm Beach, Fla., left the Cardinals program to be closer to his home and family.

However, because Louisville and Florida State are both members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, he ran up against the conference’s restriction against immediate eligibility for undergraduates transferring from one ACC school to another.

The NCAA Division I Committee for Legislative Relief approved Travis’ waiver request on appeal and informed Florida State on Monday.

Travis has four years of eligibility remaining and will be a redshirt freshman in 2019. The Seminoles open the season against Boise State in Jacksonville on Aug. 31.
