The ACC released its 2014 football schedule on Wednesday that includes Louisville’s first year as a member and Notre Dame’s limited participation as well as what promises to be one of the tougher non-conference lineup of games in the nation.
The season kicks off with defending BCS champion Florida State, led by Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jameis Winston, taking on Big 12 stalwart Oklahoma State on Aug. 30 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The non-conference schedule includes more games against teams ranked in the final Associated Press Top 25 in 2013 than any of the five other power conferences.
“This is an exciting time in ACC football, and as we look ahead to the 2014 season, it’s clear that our teams have once again combined for a strong lineup of nonconference opponents, along with our competitive league schedule,” ACC commissioner John Swofford said in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming Louisville into the ACC and beginning our annual scheduling agreement with Notre Dame.”
Other key games will feature Miami at Louisville on Sept. 1, Virginia Tech at Ohio State on Sept. 6, Clemson at Florida State on a yet-to-be-determined date and North Carolina at Duke on Nov. 30.
In addition to playing Oklahoma State, Florida State faces Notre Dame and rival Florida.
Notre Dame’s games against ACC teams will be North Carolina on Oct. 11, Syracuse on Sept. 27 and Louisville on Nov. 22.
Rivalry games for ACC teams on Thanksgiving weekend will include Louisville-Kentucky, Florida State-Florida, Virginia-Virginia Tech, Clemson-South Carolina, Georgia-Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh-Miami, Syracuse-Boston College, Wake Forest-Duke and North Carolina State-North Carolina.
The conference championship game is set for Dec. 6 at a site to be determined. The title game has been played in Charlotte, N.C., since 2010.
