Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois is expected to miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a patellar tendon injury in his left knee, multiple outlets reported on Sunday.

The sophomore was injured during the Seminoles’ season-opening 24-7 loss to Alabama on Saturday. He is expected to undergo surgery on Tuesday, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

Francois injured his left knee after being sacked by Crimson Tide safety Ronnie Harrison in the fourth quarter. He was prone on the turf in pain and was unable to put weight on the leg as he was helped off the field.

Francois was later spotted on crutches with a brace on the knee.

Harrison took to Twitter to offer his well wishes to Francois.

“Praying for @_Dirtie12 , Hit was Not Intentional!” Harrison wrote. “I hope you have a speedy recovery bra.”

Freshman James Blackman came on in place of Francois, who completed 19 of 33 passes for 210 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions against Alabama. Last season, Francois threw for 3,350 yards with 20 touchdowns.

Coach Jimbo Fisher said Blackman will get the nod when the Seminoles host Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday in Tallahassee, Fla. Blackman receives a bit a warm up in Week 2 before a big rivalry game against Miami the following week.
