Miami defensive end Scott Patchan has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Patchan, who is listed at 6-foot-6 and 249 pounds, will be eligible to play his final season elsewhere in 2020 as a graduate transfer.

“It has always been my dream to play at the University of Miami. I will cherish the relationships fostered with my teammates, coaches and others,” he posted Saturday on Twitter. “I will be a Cane for life. I now look forward to new challenges. God bless.”

Patchan started six games and played in all 13 for the Hurricanes in 2019, finishing with a career-high 33 tackles, six tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

He played in 30 games for Miami and registered 63 tackles, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. In 2018, he scored a touchdown on a blocked punt return against Savannah State.

A member of the Hurricanes’ 2015 recruiting class, Patchan chose Miami over offers from Florida State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and UCLA. He was rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 19 defensive end in the nation by Rivals.com.
