Miami Hurricanes starting quarterback Jarren Williams is putting his name in the transfer portal, according to multiple media reports Thursday.

The news comes days after former Houston quarterback D’Eriq King announced he is transferring to Miami.

Williams would need a waiver to be able to play at another school in 2020.

Williams, 20, completed 169 of 276 passes for 2,187 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2019 in 12 games (10 starts), but also threw seven interceptions for the 6-7 Hurricanes. His best game might have been in a 52-27 victory over Louisville, when he set a Miami record with six touchdown passes.

In 2018, when he went 1-for-3 passing for 17 yards and rushed for a touchdown in his only game, he was suspended one game for an unspecified team rules violation.

After that season, he intended to transfer after believing he was treated unfairly by then-head coach Mark Richt, according to the Miami Herald, but teammates talked him into staying.

King, who accounted for 50 total touchdowns with the Cougars in 2018, played in just four games this past season before choosing to redshirt and preserving his final year of eligibility. He entered the NCAA’s transfer portal on Jan. 13.

On Monday, King selected Miami as his new destination after reportedly also drawing interest from LSU, Arkansas, Maryland, Ole Miss and Oregon.
