The college career of Virginia senior cornerback Bryce Hall is over after he underwent ankle surgery, coach Bronco Mendenhall said Monday.

Hall earned second-team All-America honors last season, when he led the nation with 22 pass break-ups to go along with two interceptions. He ends his career with five interceptions, 44 pass break-ups, three forced fumbles and 154 tackles, including 9.5 for loss and four sacks.

Hall was projected as going 21st in the first round in Field Level Media’s early mock draft last month. There was no immediate word on a timetable for his recovery.

Hall suffered the injury to his left ankle while on the punt return team in the second quarter of Friday night’s loss at Miami, taken off the field on a cart. He underwent surgery Sunday, Mendenhall said, adding that Hall was “in good spirits.”

Friday’s loss dropped Virginia (4-2, 2-1 ACC) from No. 20 to out of the AP Top 25.

Hall finished this season with four pass break-ups and 20 tackles, including three for loss and a sack.
