GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Virginia’s running attack against Virginia Tech’s defense. Running back Jordan Ellis needs 132 yards to hit the 1,000-yard mark for the season and his success has driven the success of the Cavaliers. The Hokies rank towards the bottom in the nation in rushing yards allowed per game, giving up an average of 208 yards per contest. Ellis’ longest run against Georgia Tech was just five yards and the Cavaliers are 4-0 when he goes for 80 or more yards.

DRAFT SLANT

–DL Dylan Thompson made six tackles in his first start with the Cavaliers. The graduate senior’s request for one more season with Virginia was denied by the NCAA so Thompson will have two more games to show NFL scouts what he can do. Thompson will get an opportunity against a Virginia Tech offensive line that has given up 23 sacks this season.

ROSTER REPORT

–DB Joey Blount could be back on the field Friday after missing Virginia’s previous two games with a leg injury.
