GAME BREAKDOWN

KEY MATCHUP: Wake Forest secondary vs. Syracuse QB Eric Dungey. The defensive backs have had to learn on the fly and it has been difficult at times for the Demon Deacons. They’ve surrendered chunks of yards at times through the air and Syracuse will certainly be willing to put the ball up and see if the Demon Deacons are up to the task. Wake Forest didn’t record an interception last week when Louisville attempted 54 passes, often in clear passing situations.

Dungey didn’t seemed fazed by his late-game benching from the previous game when he came out and put on a show against North Carolina State last week. Yet with the Orange showing a willingness to turn to QB Tommy DeVito, the Demon Deacons will have to do something to disrupt Dungey’s rhythm.

DRAFT SLANT

–C Ryan Anderson has started 37 consecutive games. He’s capable of shifting to guard or tackle if that’s what the Demon Deacons need. His stock began to rise last year as the Demon Deacons racked up record yardage totals and now scouts will have a chance to zero in on him to see what he’s doing so well on a regular basis.

ROSTER REPORT

–QB/WR Kendall Hinton is listed third on the depth chart at quarterback, slot receiver and kickoff returner. It’s difficult to tell where the season’s projected starting quarterback until a spring team suspension cost him the first three games of the season fits in.

–DB Cameron Glenn was named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week after posting 13 tackles at Louisville. He also forced a fumble that resulted in a return by a teammate for a touchdown.

–LB Justin Strnad, a redshirt junior, registered a career-high 13 tackles in the Louisville game. Nine of those were recorded as solo stops.
